From the lab: Mercedes-AMG V63 S

You'll never be left waiting for a tradie to rock up on time if they've got one of these as their work van.

Our team has been hard at work in the lab. This creation is part of an ongoing series of imaginary rides made real. Make your suggestions in the comments for what we should cook up next.

Plumbing emergencies always seem to occur at the least convenient times, and there's nothing worse than being left waiting as your bathroom slowly turns into a swimming pool.

Now, you'll never be left waiting again. Consider this our petition to Mercedes-Benz to bestow upon the world the greatest van ever made: the AMG V63 S.

The premise is quite simple. Inside, it's just a normal V-Class but with some AMG-inspired bucket seats trimmed in the standard durable cloth. There's no need for plush leather here – speaking as a former detailer, the hard plastics are easiest to clean after spending time on muddy worksites.

Outside, it's mostly still the standard V-Class as well, but with some side skirts, wheels, and a front bumper inspired by other AMG models. Of course, the bumper is still black plastic since this is a work van after all, but the three-pointed star ensures it will look at home when working at the fanciest houses in town.

But under the skin? Shove in the 4.0-litre twin-turbo AMG V8 from the old C63 S with 380kW on tap. Since there'll be no room left for the 4Matic system, it's sticking with rear-wheel drive.

With this, no tradie ever has a reason to be running late again, and your bathroom won't be turned into a swamp when a pipe bursts. You're welcome, world.
